Q. What is the difference between NAUI and PADI Certification?

A. There are many agencies around the world; however, in the United =
States the two you should concern yourself with are the NAUI and PADI. =
These two agencies have different philosophies and methods of training.=20

NAUI is a not-for-profit agency, founded in 1960 and based on educating =
qualified divers. PADI is a for-profit agency, founded in 1966. PADI =
takes a marketing approach to diving which has been quite successful and =
has made them the largest and most recognized certification agency in =
the world.=20

PADI offers shorter courses than NAUI with more levels, which may lead =
divers to falsely believe they are at a higher level of proficiency than =
they really are.=20

NAUI and PADI utilize different dive tables. NAUI's dive tables tend to =
be more conservative in terms of Surface Interval Time allotted.=20

Ultimately, what is most important for your training as a good diver is =
your instructor rather than the certification agencies s/he is =
affiliated with.=20

What is the difference between a PADI, SSI, and NAUI certification =
course?
If there is a $64 question in diving this is it. PADI, and NAUI, are =
both organizations that train and certify dive certification courses. =
Each intends to devise dive courses and training methods that produce =
safe scuba divers, with minimal risk to the students and instructors.

A certification card from a dive course by either of these organizations =
will entitle you to take a dive vacation, or to fill a tank at a dive =
shop.

Information About NAUI=20
 =20
NAUI, the National Association of Underwater Instructors, celebrated its =
44th anniversary in 2004. NAUI is recognized as the second largest =
diving training agency in the world.

NAUI offers you an in-depth understanding of the art and science of =
scuba diving. Our NAUI instructors here at Empire Scuba want you to be =
prepared for your diving experience. =20

Dive resorts and diving service centers throughout the world recognize =
the NAUI C-Card and the educational process that preceded earning it.

NAUI instruction here at Empire Scuba begins with your Open Water =
Certification and can take you through your scuba journey. Our =
instructor staff can help you be all that you can be. The choice is up =
to you.

Information About PADI=20
 =20
PADI - Which stands for the Professional Association of Diving =
Instructors is the largest scuba diver certification agency in the =
world. Your PADI C-Card will be recognized around the globe.

PADI is "The Way The World Learns to Dive". From the beginning diver to =
numerous specialties, you can't go wrong with PADI. If you are already =
certified through PADI and want to continue your diver education, we =
have classes available just for you. =20

PADI has some of the finest support materials available in the scuba =
diving industry. Their textbooks and videos will easily help you =
through your self-study portion of your scuba classes. PADI divers =
receive classroom and in water training from skilled PADI instructors =
who prepare you for the thrill of scuba diving. You will be well =
prepared for your diving adventure.

With PADI, you can be certain that whether you take your classes here at =
Empire Scuba or across the ocean - your class structure will be the same =
worldwide. PADI prides itself on their in-depth instructor training, =
making sure that you receive the finest training wherever you go.

It really is up to you and your dive shop on which way to go. The =
student's availability and needs are usually determining factors in =
deciding. Both agencies are recognized worldwide. It is the =
INSTRUCTOR, not the agency that trains a good diver.
